Have you ever been flipping casually through your French Vogue or one of your other magazines that costs more than a Forever 21 outfit (or maybe even as much as a pair of Converses) and wondered what’s in a bush? Or a nipple clamp? Or random naked young girls with ample bosoms? Italian Vogue editor Franca Sozzani would probably say “not much.” She writes on her blog:

Runway shows are usually all about showing off designers’ new clothing lines. But at London Fashion Week, wig-maker Charlie Le Mindu broke tradition by making his models strut down the catwalk completely naked, said London’s Metro newspaper.

London Fashion Week has always been at the cutting edge of the runway culture. Now, it appears as if the last taboo in the fashion industry has finally been broken, after models showed off what not to wear. Adorned in just heels and big hair/ hat combinations, the models showcased the offerings of wig maker Charlie Le Mindu, although viewers were treated to the runway nudes showcasing rather a lot more. Guess what? I was totally butt naked five minutes ago and I’m in the office! Butt naked with the exception of a pair of Isabel Marant studded ankle boots and a La Perla black lace bra that is. No I haven’t totally lost my s**t, although you could be forgiven for thinking I had given most fashion people have The Priory on speed dial. London Fashion Week was shocked this, er, week when designer Charlie Le Mindu did the unthinkable and round house kicked the tired old fashion world into next week by sending models down the runway in the buff, au natural, as naked as the day they were born. The 24-year-old who creates bags and hats and stuff for people like Lady Gaga sent shockwaves and wobbled expensive sunglasses in the front rows. (more…)

On an otherwise unremarkable grey autumn day in London last month, a few hundred protesters took to the streets around Knightsbridge armed with home-made banners and loudspeakers. Some of them had their faces half-obscured by scarves. Others came with their children, holding their hands tightly against the scrum.

Why are Girls Dressing Like This?
Girls wanting to dress like older teens is nothing new, but as the styles have gotten progressively more suggestive, the practice has taken on more significance. Girls often emulate models and teen pop stars who incorporate sexual imagery into their act. The Ancient Greeks were nude when they participated in the Olympics; Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit issue is always popular, and now ESPN The Magazine will publish a “Body Issue” in which the (male and female) athletes are nude.
Editor in chief Gary Belsky says the issue, which hits stands in October, would be “tastefully done,” with strategically placed equipment, like the nude photos of Winter X Games athletes the mag published in 2004 (example above). (more…)
